Steve Tanchel
Steve Tanchel graduated in 1999 top of the class at Michaelis School Of Fine Art University of Cape Town. [Bafa]Hons. He shot his first photographic spread for Elle Magazine in 2000 going on to win the L’Oreal Paris Technical Excellence Award for Photography at the Katherine Awards in 2003. Tanchel’s work has featured extensively in publications such as Dazed and Confused UK, Elle, GQ, Elle Korea, Collezione and FHM worldwide. His stills work reflects a highly visual and contemporary point of view and has attracted a list of clients that included Levis, De Beers, Mastercard, Cellini, Guess, Motorola and Lux.
Following an instinct to tell bigger and better crafted stories Steve made the natural transition to directing television commercials in 2007 and won gold at the 2008 Loerie Awards for MTN-Snapshots.
Steve knows how to handle a supermodel or two having photographed his share of the beautiful people. In his own words “I am a person who is ruled by aesthetics.”
